Robert Olen Butler has written nineteen novels and six volumes of short stories, one of which, A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain, won the 1993 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Among many other awards, he has twice won a National Magazine Award in Fiction and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Award for Outstanding Achievement in American Literature. His works have been translated into twenty-one languages. His latest novel is Citizen Parrot which, like his previous two novels, is notably structured around de facto short short stories. Butler teaches the creative process of literary fiction at Florida State University. His teaching is captured fully in his book From Where You Dream. He is married to poet Julie Kane.
