XU XI 許素細 xuxiwriter.com, an Indonesian-Chinese-American from Hong Kong, has published seventeen books— five novels, ten prose collections, one memoir, one co-authored fiction writing textbook —and also edited four anthologies of English Hong Kong literature.  Her latest title is Horizon Hong Kong: Selected Stories, Gaudy Boy, New York, July 2026; she is also editor of Hong Kong Way 香港道 for the same press, (forthcoming, 2028), a short story collection by Hong Kong English and Chinese-in-translation writers. Her recent critical work addresses “The Problem of English in Contemporary Literature” published with papers for the Nobel Symposium (187) inLiterature in Literary Judgment and the Forum of Criticism, ed. Sandra Richter, Mats Jansson, and Gisèle Sapiro, Series: DLAschriften / DLAwritings, Volume 22, Wallstein Verlag GmbH, Göttingen, Germany, December 2025.  She is a part-time thesis supervisor for the MA in Creative Writing at LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore.  Previously, she held the Jenks Chair in Contemporary Letters at the College of the Holy Cross, Massachusetts, was writer-in-residence at Arizona State University, City University of Hong Kong, University of Iowa, and directed two international MFA’s in creative writing and literary translation.  Prior to teaching, she worked in marketing and management in the U.S. and Asia at The Asian Wall Street Journal, Federal Express, a Wall Street law firm, Pinkerton’s and Cathay Pacific Airways.  Since 2002, she has owned and managed Mongrel International Inc. offering international literary services.  A diehard transnational, she now lives between New York and the rest of the world.
